THE GOOD SHEPHERD AND HIS SHEEP (John 10)

4/18/2026

THE GOOD SHEPHERD AND HIS SHEEP

The picture of sheep, sheepfolds, and shepherds is the main focus of John 10. It is a picture of the countryside and the East, but it can still say a lot to us today, even though we live in a city and work in factories. Paul used this picture to warn the spiritual leaders of the church in Ephesus (Acts 20:28ff.). The Bible is full of truths about the shepherd and sheep that are still relevant today. The types and pictures that Jesus used help us figure out who He is and what He wants to do for us.

One of the simplest ways to understand this somewhat complicated chapter of John's gospel is to look at the three things. Jesus said about Himself:

"I Am the Door” (10:1–10)
"I Am the Good Shepherd” (10:11–21)
"I Am the Son of God” (10:22–42)

I trust you will have time to join me in our Bible study next week as we study John 10.

Bible study is crucial for spiritual growth, understanding God and His plan, gaining wisdom for daily life, finding joy and purpose, and building your faith. As you daily engage with Scripture,  may God's word equip you to live a godly life and come to a greater place of serving others.

Mark Wash has written these daily studies to serve as a tool for your spiritual development. We pray that as you daily invest time in God's word, you will grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).
