JESUS AND THE CRISIS
John 12 tells us about the second big crisis in our Lord's ministry, as seen by John the apostle. The first crisis happened was when a lot of His followers (disciples) stopped following Him (John 6:66), even though He is "the way" (John 14:6). John tells us in this chapter that many people would not believe in Him (John 12:37ff.), even though He is "the truth." The third crisis will happen in John 19, when the leaders crucify Him, even though He is "the life." John began his book by saying that Jesus "came unto his own [world], and His own [people] received Him not" (John 1:11). In the first twelve chapters, John gave us proof after proof that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. The leaders of the country saw all of this evidence for themselves, but they still didn't believe Him. His people rejected Jesus, so He left with His beloved disciples (John 13:1). In John 12, we see how the Lord Jesus Christ interacts with four different groups of people. We can learn from this part of the Bible. In tomorrow's Bible study, we will look at the first group: Jesus and His friends (John 12:1-11). Comments are closed.
