PROMISE #111 - APRIL 21

. . . Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, . . . ~James 2:5

The gospel is good news for people who are poor. Matthew 5:3 says that Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God." James tells us in today's scripture that God has chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and to inherit the glorious kingdom He promised to all who love Him.

This promise may give strength to those who are weak, hope to those who are hopeless, and encouragement to everyone who feels like they are not "on top of the food chain" in this world. God is on the side of the little guy. He has always lifted up the lowly because he is gentle in spirit.

In the kingdom of God, the weak will become strong, the poor will become rich, and the foolish will become wise (1 Corinthians 1:26–30). The more we understand that the gospel is about God doing for us what we can't do for ourselves, the more we will be grateful for His promise to make us heirs of His glorious kingdom and to strengthen our faith.

This is really good news for me!That means I can do it!

Prayer:

Thank you, Father, for making the poor of this world rich in faith and heirs to your wonderful kingdom. Today, I pray that I can see myself through your eyes so that I can know how much you love and value me. May this truth change how I see my situation and how I see myself.

I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
