PROMISE #215 - AUGUST 3

"For the word of the LORD is right; and all His works are done in truth." ~Psalm 33:4

It would hurt me terribly if I promised my children something and they questioned the integrity of what I promised. As a father, I want my children to trust my character and my word. If they doubted what I said, then I would feel they doubted the heart of who I am.

Trust is the bedrock of any relationship. If there is no trust, then the relationship is shaky. In this promise of today, the Psalmist praises God and, in effect, says that the word of the Lord is faithful and all his works are trustworthy.

When we struggle to believe that God’s word is true, we’re actually doubting God’s character. Every time we doubt God’s Word or His goodness, we are siding with the father of lies and his constant accusations against God. As it would grieve an earthly father, so most deeply it grieves the Father of Lights.

Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please God." I believe our God and Father loves it when His children simply believe everything He says, just as a little child believes everything their mom or dad tells them.

My prayer today is that the Holy Spirit would open our eyes to the unbelieving thoughts that come into our minds and that we would break any power of agreement with them, for the Word of the LORD is right, and we can trust everything He does and says!

Prayer:

Father, thank You that I can trust all You say because Your Word is right and true. Heal every part of my heart that was hurt by those who broke my trust in the past, so I can trust You completely today and not rely on my own understanding.
