Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. ~Psalm 23:6 The Hebrew word for ‘follow’ in this Bible verse is ‘radaph.’ It means to chase, to run after, to hunt, or to pursue. King David chose this descriptive word when he said that goodness and mercy should follow him all the days of his life.
Think of goodness and mercy relentlessly hunting you down all the days of your life. This word is the blessing that is the inheritance of every son and daughter of the Father of Lights. His goodness and mercy shall follow us, chase us, and pursue us all the days of our lives! May the reality of our Father’s love and the intensity with which He pursues us be more real today than ever before. God loves you because He is love, and He cannot help but love you. His love for you is not conditional, nor does it depend on what you do. His love is pursuing you, and my prayer is that it will overtake and catch you today! Prayer: Father, thank you for your never-ending love that pursues me every moment of every day. Today I pray that I might be more aware of your nearness so that I might surrender to love’s pursuit and yield to the constant inflowing and overflowing of your mercy and goodness in my life today.
