Bible Promises

"I think that when people give themselves time to be quiet, God will really speak wonderful things to their hearts. These promises are for people who will take the time to listen. They won't try to outdo the noise of the world or impress with special effects. They are for the hurting, the weak, and the searching." ~Mark Wash

PROMISE #127 - MAY 7

5/7/2026

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. ~Psalm 119:105

Picture
Have you ever attempted to walk a forest trail in the middle of the night without a flashlight? If you do, and there is no full moon shining, it can be pretty difficult to find your way around. Without light to guide you, you will stray from the path and at least meet a tree.

The psalmist is saying the same thing in today’s promise about the importance of God’s Word for you and me. In the big scheme, we are just little boys and girls who need all the help we can get. We have no navigational tools to steer our lives. We need the written Word of God and the timely spoken Word of God to guide us through this life.

What a comfort to know that our God and Father provides us with all we need to live a godly life, including lighting our way as we take it one step at a time. Notice the psalmist doesn’t say God’s Word lights the path miles ahead of us; he says God’s Word is a lamp unto our feet.

Let us all be glad that God has pledged the resources of heaven to guide us on our life's journey. He has not left us in the dark to fend for ourselves but has focused His word, like a huge beam of light at our feet, guides our every step.

Prayer:

Thank You, Father, for guiding me with Your word. Help me to remember at all times that I am never alone on this journey because You have dedicated all the resources of heaven to lead me and guide me in the way I should go. I pray that I will be able to see and hear what the Spirit is saying to me today.

Amen. I pray in Jesus' name.

    About

Although every promise in the Bible is important, not all apply to the child of God. If you have made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, all of the promises are precious and important! If you haven't yet felt God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ, we hope that by reading these promises, you will gain a better idea of how great God is and how great His plans and purposes are for your life.

2 Corinthians 1:20 reminds the child of God that no matter how many promises God has made, they are all "Yes" in Christ. And so we say "Amen" through Him to bring glory to God. The apostle Paul writes, "For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

We hope that each daily promise will teach you more about the God who keeps all promises.
