Bible Promises

"I think that when people give themselves time to be quiet, God will really speak wonderful things to their hearts. These promises are for people who will take the time to listen. They won't try to outdo the noise of the world or impress with special effects. They are for the hurting, the weak, and the searching." ~Mark Wash

PROMISE #145 - MAY 25

5/25/2026

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. ~Matthew 5:6

Picture
The hungry or thirsty person in the natural state feels an emptiness that they must fill and looks for ways to satisfy that need. When you are thirsty, nothing tastes better than a tall glass of chilled water, or when you are famished, a roasted turkey dinner does. But if you want to provide someone an all-you-can-eat buffet right after they have eaten, they will probably decline politely.

I think it’s the same with our spiritual life. When we thirst for the things of God, all of our spiritual senses are alert to pursue the things that will quench our thirst. My wife and I travel in ministry, and I know we meet many people who are spiritually hungry. “I think that this hunger creates an expectation among people, and it creates an atmosphere of faith in the room.”

But sometimes, being hungry can be annoying. So instead of feeling satisfied from fullness, a person is in a state of wanting more. The longer they are in that state, the more frustrated they can become. After all, nobody likes to be hungry for long periods of time.

If you can relate to being hungry and thirsty for God, cheer up! In today’s promise, Jesus addresses the issue of spiritual hunger and assures us that our Heavenly Father will fill every hungry and thirsty heart. If you’re hungry for more of God, that’s a wonderful sign!

I believe it is God who has created this hunger for more of Him, and He promises to fill you completely. Blessed and happy are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (right standing with God), for they shall be filled!

Prayer:

Thank You, Father, for Your promise to fill me with more of You in those times when I long to be filled with more of You. I pray that my faith might rise up today to believe that even now there is a greater infilling available to me through Your indwelling Holy Spirit because You have infinitely more to pour out than I am able to receive.

I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.

    About

Although every promise in the Bible is important, not all apply to the child of God. If you have made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, all of the promises are precious and important! If you haven't yet felt God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ, we hope that by reading these promises, you will gain a better idea of how great God is and how great His plans and purposes are for your life.

2 Corinthians 1:20 reminds the child of God that no matter how many promises God has made, they are all "Yes" in Christ. And so we say "Amen" through Him to bring glory to God. The apostle Paul writes, "For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

We hope that each daily promise will teach you more about the God who keeps all promises.
