PROMISE #200 - JULY 19

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ~Ephesians 6:11

In Ephesians 6, Paul the Apostle exhorts the church at Ephesus to put on the whole armor of God to resist the wiles of the devil. What is particularly significant to note here is that the armor is not ours but God’s. It is His armor.

He has given us His helmet of salvation to protect our minds and grant us peace. He has given us His breastplate of righteousness to guard our hearts. He has given us His belt of truth so that we may know the truth, and the truth will set us free. He has put shoes on our feet, shod us with the preparation of the gospel of peace, and given us His shield of faith to extinguish all the enemy's arrows.

Finally, He gave us an offensive weapon, the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, so we can advance His kingdom. Through his divine power, he has given us everything we need for life and godliness, through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. We stand in His armor, power, and protection, not ours. So, having done all to stand in the power of God’s might, stand firm today.

Prayer:

Father, I thank You for giving me Your armor to protect me and keep me safe from the attacks of the evil one. Help me remember that it is Your armor that protects me and not something I make for myself. Today I will put on Your helmet of salvation, Your breastplate of righteousness, Your belt of truth, and Your shoes of peace. All the while I wield Your sword of the Spirit so I can advance Your kingdom here on earth.
