PROMISE #99 - APRIL 9

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. ~Ephesians 2:5-6

We used to be dead, but now we are alive in Christ. We used to live by the laws of the flesh, but now we are led by the Spirit of God. What a difference! From death to life, from darkness to light, from earth to heaven. God's grace (unearned favor) has brought us to resurrection life in His Son so that we can sit with Jesus in heaven!

Many of us think that the Bible passage we read today shows what will happen to us after we die and when we get to heaven. But Paul the Apostle is talking about something that is happening right now, not just something that will happen when we all get to heaven.

The spiritual truth of salvation has brought us to heaven right now! As we go through the rest of our Christian lives here on earth, this is where we stand spiritually in Christ. I love the fact that God the Father has given us a place to sit with Christ in heaven. We really do share the same seat as our Savior because we are IN Him!

Today, I pray that the Holy Spirit will give us all the strength to understand what our current heavenly seatedness means for all time. Your spirit is with Jesus in heaven right now, no matter how bad or sad your life is on earth.

Prayer:

Thank you, Father, for raising me in Christ and giving me a place in your throne room in heaven. I pray that I can focus on the things above and not on the things that get in the way and make me feel bad in this world.

Even though I am still firmly rooted here on earth, my true identity is already established in heavenly places. So, I want to be more aware of that than ever before today!
