Promise #37 - February 6

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest [down payment] of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory. ~Ephesians 1:13-14

The Bible says that the Holy Spirit lives in us (1 Corinthians 3:16). The Spirit of the living God, who brought Jesus back to life, lives in everyone who has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Today's promise says that God even sealed us with the Holy Spirit of promise to make sure we got our inheritance.

This Scripture is telling us that the Holy Spirit is the first fruits (see also Romans 8:23), the promise and foretaste, and the down payment on our inheritance of what is yet to come. Our God and Father wants us to be sure of our eternal inheritance so much that He sent His own Spirit to live in us as a sign of His eternal love.

May we all be very aware of the Holy Spirit that lives in us today and know that we are sealed with the Spirit as a promise that we will receive our inheritance.

Prayer:

Thank you, Father, for giving me your Spirit as a deposit to make sure I will always be your beloved child and a co-heir with Jesus. Today should be a day of joy for me, because I know that your loving arms will keep me safe for all time.

I ask for a greater awareness of your constant presence in my life so that I can live with the knowledge that I am bound to You by love today and always.
