PROMISE #38 - FEBRUARY 7

And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. ~2 Corinthians 6:18

This one promise sums up everything that was revealed in the New Testament. God wants all of us to have Him as our real Father. This is why Jesus came to Earth two thousand plus years ago. Jesus came to make it possible for each of us to have a right relationship with God the Father (John 14:6).

Jesus did everything to show us who His Father was. Hebrews 1:3 says that He was the exact image of His Father on earth, and Colossians 1:15 says that He was the visible image of the God who cannot be seen. Jesus loved His Father so much that He wanted to bring many sons to glory (Hebrews 2:10–11). This way, God could be a real Father to those who came to Him through the cross.

I want to encourage you today that God is not just a "father figure," but He promises to be a real Father to you. He is not like any father we have ever known on Earth because He is the perfect Father (Matthew 5:48). God creates things, but Father is who He is. Jesus made the eternal sacrifice so that we could truly know Him as our Father.

When the Holy Spirit tells our spirits that we are God's children, the only right thing to do is to call out to Him and say, "You are my Abba Father!" (Romans 8:15) May the cry of "Abba" shout from our hearts today.

​Prayer:

Thank you, Father, for loving me and being a real Father to me. I pray that I will learn more about your fatherly love today than I did yesterday. Please show me the many ways you lovingly parent me every day.I pray that I will be able to hear what your Spirit is saying to me so that the "Abba cry" is clearer in my heart today than it has ever been.
