Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. 1 Peter 5:6 The promise for today tells us to be humble. When we are truly humble, we are just like God, and He loves it when we are. In Matthew 23:11, Jesus said that the servant of all is the greatest in the kingdom. Who is the best in the kingdom? Our Father is. That means that He has the heart of a servant inside of Him.
He experiences great joy when we choose to embrace humility, and it is He who elevates us in response. We don't have to fight and work diligently to get ahead in the kingdom because our Father will raise us up at the right time. Our Heavenly Father loves it when we are truly humble (not the fake kind) and trust Him to lift us up at the right time. My prayer for each of us today is that we will see how great it is to walk with a humble heart in our Father's kingdom. Prayer: Thank You, Father, for having such a beautiful, humble heart and for loving me when I am humble like that. I'm glad I don't have to live with the stress of trying to impress other people. All I have to do is have the humble heart of a child, and You will lift me up when the time is right. I pray in Jesus' name. Amen. |
