PROMISE #178 - JUNE 27

And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. ~1 John 2:17

We reside in a temporal society: here today, gone tomorrow. Things rust, thieves break and steal, and economies crash. Nothing in this life will be eternal. The Bible teaches that even the heavens and the earth will one day be made new. God’s Word instructs us to focus on the unseen and eternal, rather than the seen and temporal.

Much of the world's attention is on temporal things. What we wear, where we live, what car we drive, how much money is in the bank, etc. But God gives us a promise that cannot be shaken and has nothing to do with the temporal things of this world.

He that doeth the will of our God and Father shall live forever! What a pledge. Let us today fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and seek to obey what He is calling us in this moment. Through Jesus, we have the promise of eternal life in His glorious kingdom. Halleluiah!

​Prayer:

Father, thank you for all the promises in your word. Help me to value what You value most, so that I may present my body as a living sacrifice to You that is pleasing in Your sight today. For the pleasures of this life are fleeting, but he who does Your will shall live forever.
