Bible Promises

"I think that when people give themselves time to be quiet, God will really speak wonderful things to their hearts. These promises are for people who will take the time to listen. They won't try to outdo the noise of the world or impress with special effects. They are for the hurting, the weak, and the searching." ~Mark Wash

PROMISE #286 - OCTOBER 13

10/13/2026

"The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands." ~Psalm 138:8

Picture
In this psalm, King David says, God will fulfill His purpose in my life, for His great love is with me forever. David was well aware that God would not leave Him nor desert the work of His hands.

God has a plan for your life. He made you with His hands in His never-ending eternal love and promised never to leave you. It is comforting to know that God has a special plan for each of us, a plan He has promised to fulfill. Sure, there are many challenges along life's journey, and occasionally we can lose our focus.

But if we have given our lives to our loving God, we can rest in His promise to care for us and all the dreams we have hidden away in our hearts. David trusted the LORD to finish the work of his life, for the mercy of God lasts forever.

May we all today have the same confidence in our God and Father. God will accomplish His purpose in you. His love endures forever!

Prayer:

Father, I thank You that You bring to pass every good plan You have for me because of Your great love and attention to every detail of my life. Help me to not lose heart on the days when I feel discouraged and perhaps derailed from the purposes You have for me. I trust Your timing, Father, to bring all things together for Your good in the end.

I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

PROMISE #285 - OCTOBER 12

"Can a woman forget her sucking [nursing] child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee." ~Isaiah 49:15

Picture
The Bible says in 1 John 4:16, “God is love." He is the express image of all love that is conceivable. All divine love, according to 1 John 4, is from God: a father's love, a friend's love, a bridegroom's love, etc. In today’s promise, we see a feminine expression of God’s love.

This verse shows God asking a question: Can a mother forget the baby at her breast? How can she have no pity for the child she’s brought into the world? But God continues, even if she forgets you, I will not forget you! The following verse in Isaiah 49:16 continues with God telling us that He has engraved us on the palms of His hands.

What a promise we have! No matter what happens in this life, no matter what kind of rejection we experience, even from our parents, God will not reject us! He loves us with the love of a father and the love of a mother too! He will never forget us!

May the love of God overwhelm us today with every love we need. A father’s love, a mother’s love, the love of a friend, and the love of the Savior. May we learn to live in this love (1 John 4:16) more and more in all our remaining days.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for loving me with all kinds of love that I need when I need it. Open my eyes to Your abiding love today, especially in those areas of my life where I feel I need Your comforting, nurturing love, because even if my mother could forget me, You promise You never will.

I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

PROMISE #284 - OCTOBER 11

"But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me." ~Jeremiah 3:19

Picture
The Old Testament gives many names for God. God has over 30 different names. One of the names is 'Father.' This part of Scripture shows us the tender heart of God as a Father to Israel.

When I read this passage of Scripture, I feel God's longing to be a father to us. How glad He is to relate to us as children, hoping we would call Him "Father." Although God is revealed by many names in the Old Testament, Jesus primarily reveals God as Father in the New Testament.

Jesus died, was buried, and rose again, so we can call Him our Father! In John 20:17, immediately after coming out of the tomb, Jesus sums up His heart after His resurrection: "Touch Me not; for I am not yet ascended to My Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God."

You call Me 'Father'? That’s the heart of your heavenly Father’s desire. May today be the day that this revelation of His fathering nature penetrates your heart deeper than ever before.

Prayer:

Father, I thank You for always waiting for the day when I know in my heart that You are my Father. I pray I would have ears to hear the ‘Abba!’ cry echoing in my heart through Your indwelling Holy Spirit even now so I can fulfill the longing in Your heart from before the creation of the world—that You may hear me call You my Father.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

PROMISE #283 - OCTOBER 10

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." ~Romans 8:1

Picture
We all can claim that this is a wonderful promise. Therefore, now no condemnation! We all have shame and condemnation we face every day. Yet this verse says that because of what Jesus has done, we’re no longer condemned.

Notice the promise of no condemnation, at all, for those in Christ. Those who come to faith in Christ are described as living according to God's Holy Spirit. We no longer live according to the flesh, as all non-Christians do. Those in the flesh—the world's way of living for self before and above all else—are hostile to God. They can't please Him

The finished work of Jesus Christ, period! There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set us free from the law of sin and death. Hallelujah!

Prayer

Father, I thank you that there is no condemnation for me in my eternal union with your beloved Son, sealed by your Holy Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Help me to discern that the condemning voices that would seek to convince me otherwise are not from You, and I pray for the grace to resist these false accusations so that I may live free of condemnation all the days of my life.

I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen

PROMISE #282 - OCTOBER 9

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." ~1 John 1:9

Picture
God is faithful and upright in all His ways. He promises to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. He only asks that we trust in His goodness and take the risk of opening our hearts to Him by confessing our shortcomings and transgressions. We are vulnerable and honest before our God and Father in the confession of our sins.

By confessing our sins to God, we openly declare our reliance on His mercy to cleanse us from all unrighteousness and our inability to do it on our own. It takes faith and trust to live a transparent life before God, but that is the path to total freedom.

We keep things in the dark, and they have power over us, keeping us enslaved in one form or another. There is newfound freedom when we bring things that lurk in the shadows of our hearts out into the light.

The wonderful thing about it is that God is not surprised at our confession because He knows us better than we know ourselves. When we open our hearts to Him, He does not judge us, but the opposite is done. What the Bible says in Psalm 103:13-14, "Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear Him. For He knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust."

When we are open and honest before God, compassion stirs in the heart of God because He knows our weaknesses. It is for our benefit that we confess our sins, not His. He’s already paid for the sin that separated us from Him with the shed blood of Jesus—once and for all!

God simply wants us to be totally free! This means we can be free from a guilty conscience and the enemy's accusations of condemnation! So if anything is keeping you from experienc
ing intimacy with your heavenly Father, be assured that He is faithful and will forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness!

Prayer:

Father, I thank You that You have removed all my sins from me as far as the east is from the west by the once-and-for-all sacrifice of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Help me to be so confident in the finished work of Jesus that I will not fear to live a totally transparent life in Your presence. Willing always to confess my faults to You, knowing well that when I do so, I am cleansed of a guilty conscience.

In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

    About

Although every promise in the Bible is important, not all apply to the child of God. If you have made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, all of the promises are precious and important! If you haven't yet felt God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ, we hope that by reading these promises, you will gain a better idea of how great God is and how great His plans and purposes are for your life.

2 Corinthians 1:20 reminds the child of God that no matter how many promises God has made, they are all "Yes" in Christ. And so we say "Amen" through Him to bring glory to God. The apostle Paul writes, "For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

We hope that each daily promise will teach you more about the God who keeps all promises.
