"God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?" ~Numbers 23:19 In today's promise, Numbers 23:19 tells us that God is not a man who should lie. One of the problems we have relating to God is the ability to trust Him completely. We may at times struggle to trust Him because we have learned from life's experiences that people do not always keep their promises.
While I don't think we intentionally make the same assumptions about God, something in the human heart can project onto Him the same disappointments we have experienced with people close to us. We can often assume that God will treat us just like our earthly fathers did. If we struggle to trust our parents, we may struggle to trust God. But this promise clearly says that God is unlike anyone on earth. He does not lie or change His mind. Every promise that He makes is entirely true! The work that God has called us to is to believe that He is who He says He is. May faith rise in our hearts today and cry out 'Yes and Amen!' to every promise God makes! He is true, faithful, and always keeps His promises. Prayer: Father, I thank you for being the ultimate promise keeper who is faithful and steadfast in all Your ways. Every promise You have made to me in Christ is "Yes" and "Amen." I pray I will trust You more and more each day, knowing that You will never let me down because You are my faithful Father. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen. "And they shall see His face; and His name shall be in their foreheads." ~Revelation 22:4 The book of Genesis starts with our God and Father creating the heavens, the earth, and all that is in them. And the Bible ends in the book of Revelation, where God promises that we will see Him face-to-face and His name will be written on our foreheads. What a wonderful hope we all have.
No one in the Old Testament saw God and lived. When we arrive in Heaven, we can look into His loving eyes face-to-face and have His name engraved on us. Today I pray that God will open our hearts so that we can look in faith to that day when He will wipe away all our tears. This is what we must do. This destination is where we are headed if we have received the gift of the life of Jesus Christ. We have nothing to fear. It is just an eternity of glorious bliss, gazing into the eyes of the One who loved us before the world was made. Hallelujah! Prayer: Thank You, Father, for Your loving care, which makes my eternal future safe. I have nothing to fear, but so much to look forward to. One day I will see You face-to-face, and I will have Your name written on my forehead. I pray that this hope will be a blessing to me here on earth when the world around me appears to be too much to bear. I pray in Jesus' name. Amen. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. ~1 John 3:2 When Jesus returns, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. The scripture says we don’t know what that will look like, but we know that as we look upon Jesus, we will be transformed into His image.
This promise gives hope for the future but speaks directly to our present situation. The Apostle John encourages us that we are now the children of God! We don’t have to wait until we see Jesus face to face to experience the tangible reality of being His beloved children. Now we are His children, and someday all of the human trappings of our flesh will be consumed in the fire of the loving presence of Jesus when we see Him face-to-face. But until then we have a wonderful promise that we are now the children of God! May we all see today, with our spiritual eyes, that God’s promise is not just for the future but for the present! Prayer: Thank You, Father, that I am Your beloved child even now, even though I have a magnificent future waiting for me in eternity. I pray that this revelation is clearer to me today than ever before. I rejoice knowing that all of heaven sees me today as Your beloved heir and co-heir with Jesus! Thank you for this priceless gift of salvation. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. "Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name." ~Revelation 3:12 As the Bible says, life is but a vapor. In the view of eternal ages, the length of a man's life is but a twinkle of the eye. This is why we need an eternal mindset, not a temporal one. In 2 Corinthians 4:18, Paul writes, "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."
If life pressures overwhelm you, take a moment to consider eternity, regardless of your current circumstances. Today in the Scripture, Jesus Himself promises that He will make us pillars in the temple of His God forever and write each of us a new name! And as everything around us begins to shake, be encouraged that God is giving us a kingdom that cannot be shaken. One day, in the city of our God, the New Jerusalem, all those who belong to Jesus will be secure! Prayer: Father, thank You for the hope I have in You and for the glorious future You have promised me that will never end. When I am overwhelmed by the worries of this world, help me to remember that through my union with Your beloved Son I have an eternal inheritance stored in heaven for me. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? ~Matthew 6:25-26 It is a rather short promise, compared with the long corresponding Bible text. But if you just look at the simple message that Jesus is saying, the promise is brief and clear. The older I become, the more I learn that worry is unhelpful and irresponsible. Worry doesn’t make us live longer, but studies indicate that it can shorten our lives. More than 70 percent of all illnesses are stress-related. It suggests our bodies aren't designed to cope with too much stress.
Jesus tells us to 'take no thought for our lives.' Do not worry! Our Heavenly Father has promised to care for us all the days of our lives. In this Scripture passage, Jesus tells how His Father cares for the birds of the air, who do not sow, reap, or gather into barns. He asks, 'How much more valuable are you than birds?' Worry implies that we are not convinced of our worth to God. But don't waste time worrying about it. Pray that God will reveal to you more of your infinite worth to Him. Good fathers provide for their children. After all, children don’t have to beg for provision; they can simply rest in the fact that a loving dad is taking care of them. As God's children, we can be confident that God will take care of us! Prayer: Father, thank you for promising to care for every detail of my life so I don’t have to worry about the future. Help me to know Your everlasting presence in this moment and to be at rest in Your loving arms knowing that You will take care of me. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen. |
AboutAlthough every promise in the Bible is important, not all apply to the child of God. If you have made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, all of the promises are precious and important! If you haven't yet felt God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ, we hope that by reading these promises, you will gain a better idea of how great God is and how great His plans and purposes are for your life.
