Bible Promises

"I think that when people give themselves time to be quiet, God will really speak wonderful things to their hearts. These promises are for people who will take the time to listen. They won't try to outdo the noise of the world or impress with special effects. They are for the hurting, the weak, and the searching." ~Mark Wash

PROMISE #134 - MAY 14

5/14/2026

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. ~Psalm 5:3

Picture
God is with us when we are awake. God is with us when we are asleep. King David said in Psalm 139 there is no place he can go to get away from the presence of the Lord. In today’s psalm, King David says that when we cry to the Lord in the morning, He hears our prayers.

Think about it for a second. God watches over us when we are sleeping, and He is right there, ready to hear our prayers the moment we wake up! I am amazed how our Heavenly Father is so attentive to our needs. As Jesus told us in Matthew 6:8, our Heavenly Father knows what we need before we ask.

So when you open your eyes tomorrow morning, remember this promise: God is waiting to hear from you. His heart longs for us to fellowship with Him morning, noon, and night. He never leaves us, and He listens for our voice when we rise in the morning.

Prayer:

Father, I thank You for Your listening ear in the morning, as You listen to me like I am the only person in the universe. I don’t know how You are so in tune with what I want that You know what I need before I ask for it. Help me to feel Your presence when I rise in the morning and Your desire for me to bring my petitions to You. Help me cry to You when I first open my eyes each new day.

I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

PROMISE #133 - MAY 13

Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. ~Psalm 12:7

Picture
King David in Psalm 12 speaks of the wickedness of his generation and how the ungodly of the day abused the poor. David declares that even though ungodliness and pain surrounded him, the Lord would be faithful to watch over all His loved ones, despite this seemingly depressing situation.

The point of today’s promise is that the Lord has promised to watch over us and guard us forever  .  .  .  even in the midst of an ungodly generation.

We’re called to be in the world but not of the world; we all know this truth. My prayer today is that we each feel safe in our Father's hands, as He promises to guard us forever, even in difficult circumstances.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for watching over me day and night as I live under the shelter of Your wing. You are my strong fortress, and I feel safe and secure knowing you promise to keep me safe forever. Help me to rest in this promise today so that I won’t be distracted by the things in life that try to put fear in me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

PROMISE #132 - MAY 12

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. ~Psalm 46:1

Picture
The psalmist in today’s promise tells us that God is ready to help us at the first sign of trouble. He is always with us. He is our refuge and strength when we need shelter from the storms that come our direction. Let's read Psalm 46:1-3. "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea. Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah."

For the first three verses of this Psalm, when we read them, we can fully appreciate the result of our embracing the promise that God is a very present help for us in trouble. We shall not be afraid, though the earth should change. If the mountains are cast into the sea, we will not be scared. Though the waters roar and the mountains tremble, we will dwell in the shadow of the Most High.

There are raging natural disasters and wars and rumors of wars, so we need to be convinced that God is who He says He is. He is our help in all our troubles, and He promises to be our refuge and the very strength of our life. May the revealing of this promise bring us all peace, a peace that passeth all understanding.

Response:

Thank You, Father, for being my ever-present help in my times of trouble. The truth forever is that nothing in all creation can ever separate me from Your love in Christ. May this promise be my experience today, no matter what the news or my circumstances say.

I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

PROMISE #131 - MAY 11

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. ~Deuteronomy 31:6

Picture
Moses spoke these words to the Israelites when he told them he would not go with them into the promised land. I cannot imagine how the nation of Israel felt when its trusted leader for 40 years told them that his time of leadership was over. They must have been frightened because Moses told them not to be afraid.

Moses went on to repeat this word of encouragement to his trusted assistant Joshua face-to-face in verses 7-8. Joshua needed to lay hold of this promise from God too, for he was about to become their new leader and champion in their conquest of the promised land. At this time when these words were spoken, Israel was about to confront literal giants in Canaan, so they needed to be sure God had promised to be with them wherever they went.

It is unlikely any of us will come across real giants in our day-to-day lives, but all of us, in one shape or another, do face giants of discouragement, fear, and despair. I pray that this promise of God, given to Israel thousands of years ago, would bring comfort and strength to each one of us today.

We don't need to be afraid. God is with us and He will never leave us. Let this truth be deeply rooted in our hearts, so we have the strength needed when facing our giants. God will not leave us!

Prayer:

Thank you, Father, for the courage. You have made me know that You will never fail me and that You are with me wherever I go. Thank You that in Christ I have nothing to fear, no matter what giants I meet today, for Your constant presence will sustain me, and Your perfect love will cast out all fear from my heart.

I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

PROMISE #130 - MAY 10

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. ~Philippians 4:13

Picture
Yesterday in our promise we spoke about the kingdom principle of weakness. Today we are looking at the kingdom principle of strength in our promise. In reality, they are one and the same. Philippians 4:13 boldly states that the Apostle Paul can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens him.

Paul could declare that nothing is impossible because he had found the secret: his strength was made perfect in his weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:1-10) If we rely on our strength, we can only do what our personal strength enables us to do. When we know our power is in being without self-effort, we will know there are no boundaries, no barriers, and no limitations, for Jesus knows no boundaries, barriers, or limitations.

Whatever life throws at us, we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us. (Romans 8:37) With a childlike humility and awareness that our strength lies in Christ, we will believe we can live an impossible life.

May each one of us see the awesome power and strength that is available to us through Jesus who gives us His power and strength to help us to overcome in all situations.

Prayer:

Father, I thank you for the very strength of Jesus that you have given me through your indwelling Holy Spirit. Don’t let me rely on my own understanding as I go through life. Help me to trust you with all my heart so you can give me all the strength I need in every situation.

I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

    About

Although every promise in the Bible is important, not all apply to the child of God. If you have made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, all of the promises are precious and important! If you haven't yet felt God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ, we hope that by reading these promises, you will gain a better idea of how great God is and how great His plans and purposes are for your life.

2 Corinthians 1:20 reminds the child of God that no matter how many promises God has made, they are all "Yes" in Christ. And so we say "Amen" through Him to bring glory to God. The apostle Paul writes, "For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

We hope that each daily promise will teach you more about the God who keeps all promises.
