Free From Worry

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isaiah 41:10)

It is normal to long for a life without problems. As a result, the majority of people expend a lot of energy and time trying to establish a life that feels secure and predictable. Humans are fundamentally control freaks. If we go back to the beginning of time, we will discover a man and a woman who desired to be in charge. Was God being unfair to them? Was there anything more excellent than what He had promised? They reasoned, “If we eat from that tree, we can be like God.” “We are in charge.” And everything changed after one taste. The flawless construct had a flaw. Men's and women's hearts would continue to be twisted toward independence and rebellion.

As a result of sin, people have a tendency to mistrust and question God's goodness. Why did the Serpent tempt Eve to doubt the goodness of God? True belief in God's benevolence always goes hand in hand with faith in Him. Our faith will always sway and fail if it is founded on what we can see, which are our circumstances. Situations frequently don't make sense in the present. However, we must have faith that the God we serve is much greater than our current situation. His insight extends into an unimaginable future, beyond the present moment. His design is eternal, and His glory is beyond description.

We must be prepared to relinquish control in order to really know and experience such a God. Regardless of what we may be going through, we must make the decision to trust that God is always good and deserving of praise. We must tenaciously cling to the knowledge that even in the deepest caverns, where His presence is most palpable, He safely keeps His children.

Isaiah 41:10’s command, “Be not dismayed,” literally translates as “to look around anxiously.” God is urging us to focus on His face and place our faith in His unfailing goodness and presence. He’s here with you. His right hand, which is powerful and righteous, has a solid hold over you. You are valuable in His eyes, and He has a purpose for your suffering. Keep in mind that you exist for eternal security in the trouble-free world that is to come, not security in this present life. You must only believe.

Prayer: Father, Help me today to live in the knowledge that You hold me tightly in Your arms and won't let go. My heart and thoughts should be fixed on Your face rather than on my ever-changing circumstances. I thank You for Your unwavering love and strength. In Jesus' name, Amen.
