All Things Are Possible

“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

The book of Romans presents the case for grace more persuasively than any other Bible book. God uses it to teach us that since we are all sinners and fall short of God’s glory, we are all in need of grace (Romans 3:23). Everybody is a sinner from birth. Our original sinful ancestor, Adam, gave us a spiritual birth defect known as a sinful nature. The good news is that God’s grace in Jesus Christ is so great that it may overflow the dam of sin.

Even after a person pledges his life to Christ, the issue of sin persists. When we place our faith in Him, we receive complete forgiveness and righteousness, yet sin persists in our lives. Temptation is a constant. Far too many Christians are still experiencing spiritual defeat.

Many Christians adore Jesus and desire to follow Him, but they are still under the influence of a certain sin. They repeatedly fall into the same sin trap, unable to break free for various reasons. Feelings of frustration, remorse, shame, and regret torment these beloved brothers and sisters. I assure you that this is not the way God wants His children to live!

It’s a well-known myth that some individuals never change. They say, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” Nevertheless, in God’s family, this is untrue. Change is possible—better yet, transformation is possible. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can accomplish what is not possible for us to do on our own. You are free from sin if you have Jesus Christ alive in you and are living in Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m grateful that You have freed me from sin, Father. Please give me the willpower to resist temptation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
