“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
God has a Prepared Plan Published week of january 17, 2021
Today, God has a plan for your life and mine. Every child of God needs to remember that God has already prepared a tailored plan for you today. This is a wonderful thought and should bring comfort in the heart of every believer. From a human vantage point, ponder for a moment how much is on God's “plate” . . . He runs the universe and orchestrates eternity, yet He is concerned about our individual lives and days. We are to live our days knowing God has created us to do good works. It is important to point out that this verse (Ephesians 2:10) does not say we have been created by Christ, but “in Christ”. That is a reference to salvation. Why? He has saved us to do good works and not just any good works, but those that He has already planned for us.
This would reach every sector of our life: where you live, where you work, who you are married to, who you live next door to, the hardships and trials that you face, your gifts and abilities . . . none of these things are mere coincidence. Therefore, it is not fate that determines our days, but a loving, all-knowing God who is at work in us to bring about His plan for a lost and dying world.
So the question naturally arises: how do we find out what these daily plans are that He has lovingly prepared for us? It is through daily fellowship with Him and faithful dependence on Him that we learn what these good works are that He has planned. God longs to have fellowship with you and has designed your Christian life to require dependence on Him. This is why reading and studying His Word, taking time to pray, along with being sensitive to the nudging of the Holy Spirit are all ways that He guides us each day.
Although listening to God’s voice is not difficult, we know that it is not automatic and requires an intentional and expectant heart. After all, we live in a noisy, chaotic world that constantly clamors for our attention. It will take effort to rid our lives of what drowns out His voice and steals our affection for Christ.
God’s work in your life is not just for your benefit; it is for the glory of His Name. He has ordained each and every believer to participate in His work. He does not need us, for God needs nothing and no one . . . but He wants us. He desires to work both in and through His children so that every nation, tribe and tongue can hear of His goodness. For He alone is worthy of their praise.
So live today knowing that God has a prepared plan for you. Choose to believe your purpose in His plan means that nothing you face is left to chance.
“Heavenly Father, I take great comfort knowing that You have a plan for my life. I choose today to pay attention to Your voice and to listen to You. Help me not to worry because You are in control and at work in my life. Show me the noise in my life that keeps me from hearing Your voice and give me the strength to get rid of those distractions. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
