Today's Bible Reading

February 9

Today's Bible Reading Plan selections can be found below. If you don't have a Bible with you, just click the references to read each passage online:

Old Testament
Exodus 24-26  —  8.0 minutes
Psalms 32  —  2.5 minutes

New Testament
Matthew 13:44-58  —  3.5 minutes
Acts 19:23-41  —  5.0 minutes

Total Average Read Time — 19.0 minutes

This reading plan will make it easy and fun for you to read through the entire Bible this year. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Although the plan begins with January, you can begin at any time during the year.
  • Each month’s readings are based on 25 days worth of readings, which means you get several free days if you ever fall behind. This makes reaching your goal a lot more possible!
  • Each day’s readings will include selections from both the Old and New Testament, reinforcing the incredible unity of the Scriptures. Perhaps most important, you will focus daily on the life of Jesus by reading a portion of one of the Gospels every single day of the year.
May God bless you as you open His precious Word each day, and remember to pray for His guidance in your study. It is our desire that you will become increasingly changed into His likeness by beholding the Lord through His Word.

Today's Meditation - Psalms

Psalm 22:1-11
This psalm is one of the great Messianic ones, speaking clearly of our Lord Jesus Christ. The opening verse was expressed to the Father by the Son when He suffered on the cross. Although king David is using it of himself, its future goes beyond the limits of his earthly life.
  1. His deep concern for what he believes is the forsaking of the Lord – verses 1-2
  2. His confidence in the Lord’s holiness and past dealings with Israel – verses 3-5
  3. His comments about how he was regarded and treated by others – verses 6-8
  4. His commitment to the Lord throughout his life – verses 9-10
  5. His cry for the Lord’s presence and help – verse 11
While these verses are applied to our blessed Lord at the time of His suffering and death, it is important to recognize their significance in the life of king David at the time he wrote them under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. May God give us all wisdom and hope in knowing that the Lord WILL help us in time of need – Hebrews 4:16!
Verse for Meditation: Verse 3 – “But Thou art holy, O Thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”
