Today's Bible Reading

December 26

Our Bible Reading Plan runs from the 1st to the 25th of each month.
The next reading will be on the 1st of next month. Check back then!

This reading plan will make it easy and fun for you to read through the entire Bible this year. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Although the plan begins with January, you can begin at any time during the year.
  • Each month’s readings are based on 25 days worth of readings, which means you get several free days if you ever fall behind. This makes reaching your goal a lot more possible!
  • Each day’s readings will include selections from both the Old and New Testament, reinforcing the incredible unity of the Scriptures. Perhaps most important, you will focus daily on the life of Jesus by reading a portion of one of the Gospels every single day of the year.
May God bless you as you open His precious Word each day, and remember to pray for His guidance in your study. It is our desire that you will become increasingly changed into His likeness by beholding the Lord through His Word.

Today's Meditation - Psalms

Psalm 147:1-11
The infinite wisdom and understanding of the Lord is beyond our ability to comprehend. The psalmist says (verse 5): “Great is the LORD, and of great power: His understanding is infinite.” The psalmist urges us to “sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving.” He mentions all that He does in creation and in sustaining the laws of nature and the universe. One of His most beautiful characteristics is mentioned in verse 3, “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” The Lord is not impressed with man’s strength or ability, but rather takes pleasure in the one who fears Him and hopes in His mercy.
  1. The praise of the Lord – verse 1
  2. The place the Lord builds up – verse 2
  3. The passion He has for the broken in heart – verse 3
  4. The preeminence of His knowledge – verse 4
  5. The power of the Lord – verses 5-6
  6. The priority of praise – verse 7
  7. The provision He supplies – verses 8-9
  8. The pleasure He takes in those that fear Him – verses 10-11
We sometimes become enamored with human genius, ability, or success. God is not impressed or pleased. What honors the Lord is when we understand our accountability to Him, and when we depend upon His grace and mercy.
Verse for Meditation: Verse 1 – “Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is come."

Today's Prayer

“Teach me, Lord, not to be impressed with what man can do, but rather to put my trust and hope in You alone.”
