Today's Meditation - Psalms
Psalm 144:9-15
The testimony of king David in this latter portion of the psalm is indeed fascinating. He begins with the desire to sing a new song unto the Lord that will focus on His deliverance; He then proceeds to enumerate all the blessings that would come from such deliverance, and ends with how happy will be the people “whose God is the LORD.” How true that is! In the light of the historical conflicts in the land of Israel, it is especially enlightening to read his words in verse 11: “Rid me and deliver me from the hand of strange children whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.” During the Intifada uprisings, the role of children is well known. Real peace will come to the land of Israel when the Messiah, the Prince of peace, returns. Until then, our trust is in the Lord and in His deliverance.
Verse for Meditation: Verse 9 – “I will sing a new song unto Thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto Thee.”
