Today's Bible Reading

December 12

Today's Bible Reading Plan selections can be found below. If you don't have a Bible with you, just click the references to read each passage online:

Old Testament
Obadiah 1  —  7.0 minutes
Job 33:12-33  —  4.0 minutes

New Testament
John 17:20-26  —  2.0 minutes
Revelation 9  —  6.0 minutes

Total Average Read Time — 19.0 minutes
This reading plan will make it easy and fun for you to read through the entire Bible this year. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Although the plan begins with January, you can begin at any time during the year.
  • Each month’s readings are based on 25 days worth of readings, which means you get several free days if you ever fall behind. This makes reaching your goal a lot more possible!
  • Each day’s readings will include selections from both the Old and New Testament, reinforcing the incredible unity of the Scriptures. Perhaps most important, you will focus daily on the life of Jesus by reading a portion of one of the Gospels every single day of the year.
May God bless you as you open His precious Word each day, and remember to pray for His guidance in your study. It is our desire that you will become increasingly changed into His likeness by beholding the Lord through His Word.

Today's Meditation - Psalms

Psalm 140:1-6
Being attacked from all sides, David knew that His only hope and refuge was in the Lord. He begins with the words “Deliver me, O LORD,” and ends this portion in verse 6 with the words “Thou art my God.” He recognizes the evil plots and violent actions which his enemies have been planning against him, and he knows that he needs the protection of the Lord when he says in verse 4, “Keep me, “O LORD.” No matter what we might face today, may we understand thoroughly our need of complete trust and confidence in the Lord.
  1. The prayer for deliverance – verse 1
  2. The preparation for war – verse 2
  3. The poison under their lips – verse 3
  4. The protection for which he prays – verse 4
  5. The pride of their hearts – verse 5
  6. The plea for the Lord to hear his cry – verse 6
The Lord does hear us when we call out to Him. He is near to the broken-hearted, and He has wonderful promises for the humble in heart. We have this assurance that He hears us and knows what we need even before we ask Him!
Verse for Meditation: Verse 6 – “I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.”

Today's Prayer

“I know, Lord, that I cannot handle the attacks and pressures which the enemy sends my way, and I come to You, and I cry out to You for deliverance and protection.”
