Today's Bible Reading

December 9

Today's Bible Reading Plan selections can be found below. If you don't have a Bible with you, just click the references to read each passage online:

Old Testament
Amos 3-4  —  8.0 minutes
Job 31:24-40  —  3.0 minutes

New Testament
John 16:25-33  —  2.5 minutes
Revelation 6  —  5.5 minutes

Total Average Read Time — 19.0 minutes
This reading plan will make it easy and fun for you to read through the entire Bible this year. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Although the plan begins with January, you can begin at any time during the year.
  • Each month’s readings are based on 25 days worth of readings, which means you get several free days if you ever fall behind. This makes reaching your goal a lot more possible!
  • Each day’s readings will include selections from both the Old and New Testament, reinforcing the incredible unity of the Scriptures. Perhaps most important, you will focus daily on the life of Jesus by reading a portion of one of the Gospels every single day of the year.
May God bless you as you open His precious Word each day, and remember to pray for His guidance in your study. It is our desire that you will become increasingly changed into His likeness by beholding the Lord through His Word.

Today's Meditation - Psalms

Psalm 139:7-12
The psalmist moves from the omniscience of God to the omnipresence of the Lord, the fact that He is everywhere and we cannot hide from Him, nor run away from Him. It is a warning to some, but of great blessing to those who are walking with the Lord. What a joy to know that He is always there, loving, protecting, guiding, comforting, and empowering. Jesus said in Matthew 28:20, “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” (age). He said in Hebrews 13:5, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” You may feel all alone and wonder where God is, but He has never left you.
  1. The asking of where one could flee from His presence – verse 7
  2. The ascension to heaven would not escape His presence – verse 8
  3. The attempt to flee is futile – verses 9-10
  4. The absence of light does not affect His presence – verses 11-12
To know that He is always there is of such comfort to our hearts. We can call on Him at any time; He is there to hear and to answer prayer. May our hearts be warmed today by the assurance of His presence.
Verse for Meditation: Verse 7 – “Whither shall I go from Thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from Thy presence?”
