Today's Bible Reading

December 1

Today's Bible Reading Plan selections can be found below. If you don't have a Bible with you, just click the references to read each passage online:

Old Testament
Hosea 1-3  —  8.0 minutes
Job 23  —  3.0 minutes

New Testament
John 14:1-14  —  3.5 minutes
Revelation 1:1-8  —  2.5 minutes

Total Average Read Time — 17.0 minutes
This reading plan will make it easy and fun for you to read through the entire Bible this year. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Although the plan begins with January, you can begin at any time during the year.
  • Each month’s readings are based on 25 days worth of readings, which means you get several free days if you ever fall behind. This makes reaching your goal a lot more possible!
  • Each day’s readings will include selections from both the Old and New Testament, reinforcing the incredible unity of the Scriptures. Perhaps most important, you will focus daily on the life of Jesus by reading a portion of one of the Gospels every single day of the year.
May God bless you as you open His precious Word each day, and remember to pray for His guidance in your study. It is our desire that you will become increasingly changed into His likeness by beholding the Lord through His Word.

Today's Meditation - Psalms

Psalm 135:1-6
The admonition to “Praise ye the LORD” is repeated several times in this portion of the psalm, and the words “The LORD hath chosen Jacob unto Himself, and Israel for His peculiar treasure,” remind us of Israel’s place in the heart and plan of God. The Lord is great and good, and He does whatever He pleases to do in heaven and on earth. Worship is characterized by “praise,” and the worship center (“house of the LORD”) should be filled with it. The Lord wants us to acknowledge Him and His greatness, and to sing it unto His Name. Verse 3 reminds us “for it is pleasant.”
  1. The praise that the Lord wants from us – verse 1
  2. The place where this praise should be given – verse 2
  3. The pleasantness of praise to the Lord – verse 3
  4. The priority of Israel in the heart of God – verse 4
  5. The position of our God above all – verse 5
  6. The pleasure of the Lord – verse 6
When we praise the Lord we are doing His will and being a blessing to His heart. He designed us to worship Him, and we will be quite restless and unfulfilled until we find ourselves directing our praise to Him alone!
Verse for Meditation: Verse 5 – “For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.”
