Today's Bible Reading

November 24, 2020

Old Testament
Daniel 9  —  7.5 minutes
Job 21:22-34  —  2.5 minutes

New Testament
John 13:18-30  —  3.0 minutes
Jude 1:8-16  —  2.5 minutes

Total Average Read Time — 15.5 minutes
This reading plan will make it easy and fun for you to read through the entire Bible this year. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Although the plan begins with January, you can begin at any time during the year.
  • Each month’s readings are based on 25 days worth of readings, which means you get several free days if you ever fall behind. This makes reaching your goal a lot more possible!
  • Each day’s readings will include selections from both the Old and New Testament, reinforcing the incredible unity of the Scriptures. Perhaps most important, you will focus daily on the life of Jesus by reading a portion of one of the Gospels every single day of the year.
May God bless you as you open His precious Word each day, and remember to pray for His guidance in your study. It is our desire that you will become increasingly changed into His likeness by beholding the Lord through His Word.

Today's Meditation - Psalms

Psalm 130:1-8
A psalm of forgiveness is a powerful reminder of our Lord’s compassion and concern for His people. The psalm reminds us that if the Lord should list our sins, we wouldn’t stand a chance of surviving it! The good news about our God is that He is “ready to forgive” (Psalm 86:5). Israel’s hope must be in the Lord alone, for He will “redeem” His people from all their iniquities. The apostle John wrote (I John 1:9), “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
  1. The cry of one who needs forgiveness – verses 1-2
  2. The consequences of our sins are counted against us – verse 3
  3. The compassion of the Lord – verse 4
  4. The confidence we need – verses 5-6
  5. The cleaning that the Lord will bring – verses 7-8
Praise the Lord that there is hope for all of us because the Lord will forgive us! That forgiveness is made possible by the death of the Messiah. Isaiah 53:5 says “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities.” Verse 6 adds, “and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
Verse for Meditation: Verse 7 – “Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with Him is plenteous redemption.”

Today's Prayer

“Thank You, Lord, for Your forgiveness, and for making my redemption possible through the death of Your Son, my wonderful Savior and Lord!”
