Today's Bible Reading

November 12, 2020
Today's Bible Reading Plan selections can be found below. If you don't have a Bible with you, just click the references to read each passage online:

Old Testament
Ezekiel 31-32  —  8.0 minutes
Job 11  —  3.5 minutes

New Testament
John 10:11-21  —  2.5 minutes
1 John 2:18-23  —  2.0 minutes

Total Average Read Time — 16.0 minutes
This reading plan will make it easy and fun for you to read through the entire Bible this year. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Although the plan begins with January, you can begin at any time during the year.
  • Each month’s readings are based on 25 days worth of readings, which means you get several free days if you ever fall behind. This makes reaching your goal a lot more possible!
  • Each day’s readings will include selections from both the Old and New Testament, reinforcing the incredible unity of the Scriptures. Perhaps most important, you will focus daily on the life of Jesus by reading a portion of one of the Gospels every single day of the year.
May God bless you as you open His precious Word each day, and remember to pray for His guidance in your study. It is our desire that you will become increasingly changed into His likeness by beholding the Lord through His Word.

Today's Meditation - Psalms

Psalm 119:169-176
The last letter of the Hebrew alphabet is tau and it begins the word that starts each verse in this last portion of Psalm 119. There is a summary of the entire psalm as well as the theme of this portion found in verse 174 when it says, “I have longed for Thy salvation, O LORD; and Thy law is my delight.” When that is true in our hearts, there will be some wonderful results in our attitudes and actions. God’s Word is what we need to be what God wants us to be.
  1. His prayer to the Lord – verses 169-170 (1) It is a cry before the Lord – verse 169a (2) It is a concern for understanding – verse 169b (3) It is a confidence in God’s deliverance – verse 170
  2. His praise to the Lord – verses 171-172 (1) The need for praise – verse 171 (2) The nature of his praise – verse 172
  3. His plea for help – verses 173-175 (1) The reason he gives – verse 173 (2) The response he feels – verses 174-175 (3) The reality he faces – verse 176a (4) The request he brings – verse 176b
This passage emphasizes our response to the word of God, and acknowledges that without God’s word, we can easily go astray (v. 176).
Verse for Meditation: Verse 169 – “Let my cry come near before Thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to Thy word.”
