Today's Bible Reading

November 8, 2020
Today's Bible Reading Plan selections can be found below. If you don't have a Bible with you, just click the references to read each passage online:

Old Testament
Ezekiel 22-23  —  8.0 minutes
Job 8  —  3.5 minutes

New Testament
John 9:1-12  —  2.5 minutes
1 John 1:1-4  —  1.5 minutes

Total Average Read Time — 15.5 minutes
This reading plan will make it easy and fun for you to read through the entire Bible this year. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Although the plan begins with January, you can begin at any time during the year.
  • Each month’s readings are based on 25 days worth of readings, which means you get several free days if you ever fall behind. This makes reaching your goal a lot more possible!
  • Each day’s readings will include selections from both the Old and New Testament, reinforcing the incredible unity of the Scriptures. Perhaps most important, you will focus daily on the life of Jesus by reading a portion of one of the Gospels every single day of the year.
May God bless you as you open His precious Word each day, and remember to pray for His guidance in your study. It is our desire that you will become increasingly changed into His likeness by beholding the Lord through His Word.

Today's Meditation - Psalms

Psalm 119:137-144
The Hebrew letter beginning this section is the letter that represents the Hebrew word “righteousness.” This 18 th letter of the alphabet is the first letter of the word translated “righteous” – tsadik. To be right with God is so important. When something is wrong between our hearts and the Lord, everything else suffers. Our relationships with others is directly traceable to our being right with God, the One Who blesses those relationships.
  1. His description of God’s righteousness – verses 137-138 (1) It describes God’s character – verse 137 (2) It describes God’s commandments – verse 138
  2. His devotion to God’s righteousness – verses 139-141 (1) His reason (2) His response (3) His remembrance
  3. His delight in God’s righteousness – verses 142-144 (1) Because it is everlasting – verse 142 (2) Because it is encouraging – verse 143 (3) Because it is enlightening – verse 144
Being right with God is so important in living the Christian life. The key to understanding that is to know the righteousness of God which is revealed so clearly in His word.
Verse for Meditation: Verse 143 – “Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me; yet Thy commandments are my delights.”
