Today's Bible Reading

October 11
Today's Bible Reading Plan selections can be found below. If you don't have a Bible with you, just click the references to read each passage online:

Old Testament
Jeremiah 26-29  —  8.0 minutes
Ecclesiastes 8  —  5.5 minutes

New Testament
John 4:1-14  —  3.0 minutes
James 5:7-12  —  2.0 minutes

Total Average Read Time — 18.5 minutes
This reading plan will make it easy and fun for you to read through the entire Bible this year. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Although the plan begins with January, you can begin at any time during the year.
  • Each month’s readings are based on 25 days worth of readings, which means you get several free days if you ever fall behind. This makes reaching your goal a lot more possible!
  • Each day’s readings will include selections from both the Old and New Testament, reinforcing the incredible unity of the Scriptures. Perhaps most important, you will focus daily on the life of Jesus by reading a portion of one of the Gospels every single day of the year.
May God bless you as you open His precious Word each day, and remember to pray for His guidance in your study. It is our desire that you will become increasingly changed into His likeness by beholding the Lord through His Word.

Today's Meditation - Psalms

Psalm 115:1-8
Here is a warning against trusting in the idols, the works of men’s hands, instead of trusting in the Lord. Sometimes it is a bank account, or a particular organization, or the projects or professed abilities of someone or something. It is easy to get our eyes off of the Lord, and stop trusting in Him, and instead, start depending upon what men can do or promise to do. God is sovereign, and is working out His wonderful plan in every one of our lives. We need to trust Him completely. He is to be glorified, and that glory never belongs to any person. May God give us wisdom.
  1. The Person Who alone deserves all the glory – verse 1
  2. The place where God dwells – verse 2
  3. The pleasure of God is at work – verse 3
  4. The products of men’s hands – verses 4-7
  5. The parallel of the idols to those who make them – verse 8
What a great reminder to trust in the Lord God Who made heaven and earth, and Who does whatever He pleases! What we design by our own hands will never compete or do what God alone can do!
Verse for Meditation: Verse 1 – “Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto Thy Name give glory, for Thy mercy, and for Thy truth’s sake.”

Today's Prayer
