Today's Bible Verse

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, Luke 4:18

Old Testament
Genesis 27-28  —  8.5 minutes
Psalms 11  —  1.5 minutes

New Testament
Matthew 5:13-20  —  2.5 minutes
Acts 7:1-38  —  8.0 minutes

Total Average Read Time — 20.5 minutes

This reading plan will make it easy and fun for you to read through the entire Bible this year. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Although the plan begins with January, you can begin at any time during the year.
  • Each month’s readings are based on 25 days worth of readings, which means you get several free days if you ever fall behind. This makes reaching your goal a lot more possible!
  • Each day’s readings will include selections from both the Old and New Testament, reinforcing the incredible unity of the Scriptures. Perhaps most important, you will focus daily on the life of Jesus by reading a portion of one of the Gospels every single day of the year.
May God bless you as you open His precious Word each day, and remember to pray for His guidance in your study. It is our desire that you will become increasingly changed into His likeness by beholding the Lord through His Word.

Today's Meditation - Psalms

Psalm 7:6-10
David appeals to the justice of God, and invites Him to “arise, O LORD, in Thine anger.” He is also very concerned about the “integrity” of his own heart. When it comes down to it, it does not matter what justification we use or defense of ourselves; what matters is our accountability to God! He alone “trieth the hearts and reins.” It is clear from Jeremiah 17:9-10 that we do not know ourselves, but the Lord knows everything about us – Hebrews 4:13.
  1. His invitation to God’s anger and judgment – verses 6-7
  2. His integrity is crucial – verse 8
  3. The iniquity that God must judge – verse 9
  4. The instruction he gave to his own heart – verse 10
To invite the Lord’s judgment upon your own heart as David did, necessitates a heart that is right with God. We cannot fool Him, for “God trieth the hearts.”
Verse for Meditation: Verse 10 – “My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.”
