Week #10: March 8-14, 2020

Your challenge should you choose to accept is to memorize one verse, claim one Bible promise, study one Psalm passage, and read the Bible
Here we go .  .  .

Picture
Verse:
Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. (Psalm 71:3)
Application:
Rocks are spoken of throughout all the Bible. Jesus is symbolized as a rock that will not move. A rock is unchanging, just as God does not change. The Ten Commandments are written on stone. Wise men build on a rock. Goliath was knocked down by a stone. Everyone will run into "the rock" someday. We will deal with the law either convicted (under) by it or have it written in our hearts.
Memory aid:
Cover the verse text and using just the first letters of each word try to recite the entire passage.

Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. Psalms 71:3

Psalm 80:1-6

Again, the psalm is a prayer and is directed to the “Shepherd of Israel.” The One Who dwells “between the cherubims” in the Holy of Holies, is the One Who has led His people all the way. The psalmist recognizes that salvation is found in the Lord, and that presently as he writes, the anger of the Lord seems heavy against His people. The psalmist asks what we often ask, “How long wilt Thou be angry against the prayer of Thy people?”
  1. The Shepherd to Whom the prayer is directed – verse 1
  2. The strength of the Lord that is needed – verse 2
  3. The salvation that only God can bring – verse 3
  4. The scope of God’s anger is questioned – verse 4
  5. The sorrow of God’s people and the mocking of their enemies – verses 5-6
The pains and difficulties in life are evidences of how much we need the Lord. We need His understanding, His comfort, His strength, His peace, etc. His timing is always best.

Verse for Meditation
Verse 3 – “Turn us again, O God, and cause Thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.”

Meditation Prayer
“I trust You, Lord, to do that which is best for me, and I wait for Your timing and answers.”

Promise
"And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that [they are] double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth." (Job 11:6)

Reflection
How fortunate are we who have embraced the cross by faith! The mercy of the Lord is ever on our side. Through flood and fire, the mercy of the Maker of Heaven will make our road safe—neither righteous wrath nor villainous treachery shall stay our path, for the Lord has made it sure against such opposition. Rejoice that your way to heaven is guarded, O believer!
