Bible Promises

"I think that when people give themselves time to be quiet, God will really speak wonderful things to their hearts. These promises are for people who will take the time to listen. They won't try to outdo the noise of the world or impress with special effects. They are for the hurting, the weak, and the searching." --Mark Wash

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, . . ~Jeremiah 1:5

Picture
In today's promise, God talks to the prophet Jeremiah and tells him that God knew him and had a plan for him before he was even born. I don't know if you've thought about this Bible verse before, but I have.

How could God have known Jeremiah before he was even born? The best way to understand it is to think of how an architect plans a building and how we were made. (I know this comparison doesn't really explain how things are made, but it helps me understand this promise.) An architect has to plan out a building before it can be built.

During the design process, the architect spends a lot of time thinking about the building's plans and how it will be used. The architect won't miss any details, no matter how small. He has already built the building in his mind, and then he writes down the design.

God says that He knew us before we were born. I think He had our design in His heart before the world was made and knew us well before the wonderful day we were born.

If you've ever felt like no one understood you or that you were all alone in this world, the promise that God knew you before the world began should bring you a lot of comfort today. You are His work of art, made in Christ to carry out His unique plan!

Prayer:

Thank you, Father, for knowing me even before I was born. Before you made the world, you chose me to be part of your family. That blows my mind. I pray that this truth becomes more real today than ever before so that I can live my life knowing that You have always wanted and chosen me.

I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

    About

Although every promise in the Bible is important, not all apply to the child of God. If you have made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, all of the promises are precious and important! If you haven't yet felt God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ, we hope that by reading these promises, you will gain a better idea of how great God is and how great His plans and purposes are for your life.

2 Corinthians 1:20 reminds the child of God that no matter how many promises God has made, they are all "Yes" in Christ. And so we say "Amen" through Him to bring glory to God. The apostle Paul writes, "For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

We hope that each daily promise will teach you more about the God who keeps all promises.
