Promise #32 - February 1

The LORD hath prepared His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom ruleth over all. ~Psalm 103:19

King David says in Psalm 103:19 that God has set up His throne in heaven and rules over everything in the universe. We can all agree on this, but do we live each day knowing that our God and Father is the king of heaven and earth?

The Bible says that the devil is "the prince of the power of the air" (Ephesians 2:2), but we also know that Jesus is "the King of Kings and Lord of Lords." We know that the enemy goes around like a roaring lion looking for people to eat (1 Peter 5:8). We also know that our Savior is the true Lion of Judah, who has won over everything (Revelation 5:5).

Paul the Apostle tells us in Colossians 3:1-2 to keep our eyes on heaven. We read, "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."

Thinking about the world's problems can make us feel hopeless. I trust that today's promise will help us all remember that God rules in heaven and on earth. We should set our hearts and minds on things above, because the earth is the Lord's and everything in it!

Prayer:

Thank You, Father, for the victory You have already given me in Christ. I pray that today I will be able to focus on the things of heaven instead of the things of this world so that I can be at peace no matter what happens around me.

I agree that Your kingdom rules over everything in my life today, so I don't have to be afraid. I know that my Savior, Jesus Christ, is the King of kings and the Lord of Lords.
