Promise #20 - January 20

And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.  ~Jeremiah 29:13

When my kids were little, we used to play a game called "hide and seek." I would hide, and they would try to find me. The game is easy and a lot of fun. The whole point of the exercise was that they would eventually find me, and that was the best part!

I would never have thought to hide so well that my kids couldn't find me. It wouldn't have been fun because the real fun was in them finding me. Our Heavenly Father is not very different from me, but His ways are much better.

Our search for Him with all our hearts brings Him joy. Today's promise says that if we look for Him with all our hearts, we will find Him. Don't give up if you're feeling down today and hungry for God but don't feel like you've fully grasped Him yet. Keep looking. Keep banging on the door. Keep asking. He says you will find Him!

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" (Matthew 7:7-11)

Prayer:

Thank you, Father, that You love it when Your children look for You! Even when I don't feel you close, help me believe You are. I hope that today I will have the faith and determination of a child. I know I will find You when I search for You because You love to be found!
