Bible Promises

"I think that when people give themselves time to be quiet, God will really speak wonderful things to their hearts. These promises are for people who will take the time to listen. They won't try to outdo the noise of the world or impress with special effects. They are for the hurting, the weak, and the searching." --Mark Wash

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, . . . ~Acts 2:39

Picture
In Acts 1:4-5, Jesus told His followers to wait for the Holy Spirit, which His Father had promised to give to everyone. After the 120 people were baptized, Peter stood up and told everyone who was listening that this promise of life is for everyone, both near and far.

Acts 2:39 says, "For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."

God gives all of His children His precious Holy Spirit. Don't give up if you have unsaved family members who have not trusted Christ as their personal Savior. Don't stop praying! Keep trusting God for their salvation. Our God and Father wants everyone to be able to enjoy the wonderful presence of His promised Holy Spirit, who comes at salvation.

Prayer:

Thank you, Father, for the promise of life You have made to me and my family. I pray that my faith will grow today so that I can truly believe You want my whole family to fully accept this promise, for You are a loving Father who does not want anyone to miss out.

I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, . . ~Revelation 3:21

Picture
The forgiveness we get from Christ is incredible! When Jesus died on the cross, He gave up His life so that His Father could become our Father (John 20:17). In today's promise, we learn that Jesus tells the church in Laodicea, "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne." (Revelation 3:21).

We read in Ephesians 2:6 that our God and Father has given us a place to sit with Jesus, "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus."

May the Holy Spirit open our eyes and ears so that we can hear what the Spirit is saying in this promise. May we understand how great our inheritance in Jesus Christ is and how many promises we have because He died for us. We will one day sit with Jesus around His throne. Praise the Lord! That will be a great day!

Prayer:

Thank you, Father, for the promise You made to everyone who overcomes by the blood of the Lamb. Please help me focus on the unseen, eternal parts of Your heart today, where I am right now, hidden in Christ at your right hand. Thank you for the amazing truth that I'm here on earth right now and also sitting in heavenly places in Christ at the same time.

I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. ~2 Corinthians 5:1

Picture
The Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13:13 that faith, hope, and love will always be there. In the last few devotionals, I've talked a lot about faith and love. I want to talk about hope today. We don't need to hope for something if we already have it. Some of the promises God has made to us have not yet come true. This is one of those promises that will happen in the future.

It makes me feel better to know that one day our bodies will fail, but we will have a house in heaven that will last forever. We can have complete faith in this promise. God Himself will build the eternal home that is waiting for us. We will be a pillar in His house.

We won't have to deal with pain or loss on that day. We will be with God, and He will be with us, so pain and illness will go away. May today's promise bring us peace when we think about those Christians who have gone before us in faith. We can also be hopeful because we know we have a home in heaven waiting for us.

Prayer:

Thank you, Father, for the forever home in heaven that is waiting for me. I live in this broken world, but I hold on to the hope that I will live with You forever in the home you have made for me. Please help me always remember the unshakable hope I have in Christ, even when my situation tries to make me doubt it.

I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it. ~1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

Picture
Today's promise says that God has made us holy by giving us His Son, Jesus Christ, as a free gift. He started our life in Christ, and He will keep us blameless until Jesus comes back.

I think it's important for us to know that God's faithfulness, not our efforts, will make this promise come true. We can trust Him because He is good to us.

He is the one who called us to be in His Son. Ephesians 1:3-6 talks about our Father's plan for all time. He chose us to be holy and blameless in His sight by putting us in Christ before the world was made. He picked us, and by His grace and mercy, He will keep us.

We can trust that He will make us holy and keep us blameless until Jesus comes back because He is a loving Father who wants the best for us. Today, I pray that this truth will bring comfort to all of us and that we will live our lives knowing that He will keep us blameless until we see Jesus face to face.

Prayer:

Thank you, Father, for giving me a beautiful, holy life in Christ. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, You see me as blameless. I believe that You will keep me safe until I see Jesus face-to-face, even if I don't feel that way today.

I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

. . . He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. ~Hebrews 11:6

Picture
We read in Hebrews 11:6, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6).

Our faith in God is what makes our relationship with Him possible. It will be hard to build a living, loving relationship with Him if we don't believe He exists. Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:8-9 that it is through our faith that we are saved: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast."

God loves it when we have faith in Him even when things don't look good on the outside. Hebrews 11 tells us about many brave people who believed in God even when it seemed impossible. If you are a child of God, I urge you to proclaim today that God is good and loves you, even if you don't feel like it. Sometimes our feelings aren't right. They can trick us sometimes.

So be strong today, my friend. You should believe that God exists and rewards those who seek Him with all their heart. Nothing else will move the heart of our God and Father like your faith and trust.

Prayer:

Thank you, Father, for always being there for me when I need You. I choose to believe that You are who You say You are and that I am who You say I am in Christ. So, I don't have to worry about anything because I know You will always be there for me, no matter what happens today.

I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

    About

Although every promise in the Bible is important, not all apply to the child of God. If you have made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, all of the promises are precious and important! If you haven't yet felt God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ, we hope that by reading these promises, you will gain a better idea of how great God is and how great His plans and purposes are for your life.

2 Corinthians 1:20 reminds the child of God that no matter how many promises God has made, they are all "Yes" in Christ. And so we say "Amen" through Him to bring glory to God. The apostle Paul writes, "For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

We hope that each daily promise will teach you more about the God who keeps all promises.
